October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I wanted to offer my support to breast cancer survivors and those battling this disease every year. According to " breastcancer.org, "Every three minutes a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer..."
In addition, we know the faces of those coping with this disease, they are our sisters, friends, aunts, mom's, co-workers, teachers, and grocery store clerks,...
I lost a dear friend one year, only to watch my mother begin her own terrifying battle with the same illness the following year. The fact that I have my mother here today is the result of the time and effort of someone's volunteer work and/or donation.
Bloggers have a real opportunity to help shine light on the web sites and campaigns that help raise money for research and support of Breast Cancer Awareness Campaigns.
The more money these campaigns raise, the more lives we help save through public awareness. The National Cancer Institute estimated "178,480 female and 2,030 male cases of breast cancer in the United States in the year 2007 in addition to 40,460 female and 450 male deaths" from the illness throughout the year.

Great cause. My mum is a survivor as well. These people need all the help they can get. Nice that you pay attention to it. ANd sorry about your friend

I have been fortunate in not having experienced breast cancer myself, none of my family or friends have had to deal with it. Thank you for that post reminding me of what other women are dealing with.
