Readers Comment On Sleepless Nights

(I didn't know how I was going to live")

This weeks Tuesday's Question was How long Have You Been Without Sleep, And What Were The Consequences?

Because often a night without sleep can make your brain feel dreadful- totally fried- I haven't been sleeping much lately, so a fried egg felt like the perfect metaphor commonly used when one feels burnt out-

Hence, in my Tuesday's Question post I give a few examples of consequences, (By the way, I apologize for use of the word consequence. I don't like it anymore-) you can get into when you haven't had enough sleep... and I posted some links of posts I've written about my after effects of insomnia- one of which I linked here because I couldn't find it when I was in the frying pan. And if it hadn't been for Sandee at Comedy Plus, I still wouldn't know where it is- so thank you again Sandee.

Moving on, as I mentioned I personified myself as a fried egg because I felt so much like one from the lack of sleep... Therefore here is what I wrote about the new predicament I was in due to insomnia at the end of Tuesday's Questions post.

The first image at the top of the post is my egg self falling asleep, followed by what is happening here at the end of the post: (I didn't think I was going to make it this time)

"And I guess you've figured out that this is a consequence of another sleepless night, but I can't wait to hear your comments.

That is, if I make it out of this frying pan, and I'm not sure that's going to happen...What if I don't live through this experience and I can't write about anything anymore? I need to slow down and try to get more sleep- Because you know the saying; "If you can't stand the heat get out of the frying pan, or away from the fire, or...oh... I can't remember, I mean after all I'm in a skillet...

Does anyone have a spatula? "

Right after I pushed the publish button I slide through the butter and over the side of the skillet, and as you can see, I ran as fast as I could...but that big piece of iron chased me- However, because of the crack on my shell and all the butter on the counter, the skillet slipped off the side and hit the floor resembling the sound of a...well, iron skillet hitting the floor.

Whew! It was a close one and one of the hardest times I've had after not getting enough sleep...

( You know I'm going to go off topic here and mention that this skillets face looks like my gym teacher in Junior High Schools face used to look when we started class- I think it has something to do with it's attitude. )

Well now I'm a happy rested egg, and lucky, because if I had reacted like many of my fellow bloggers from lack of sleep things may have turned out differently- that is being an egg and all-

For instance, if I were Speedy from Speedcat Hollydale Page I would have been an egg "walking" in my sleep, or I would have totally missed the skillet and splattered on the floor if I had been Sandee at Comedy Plus, or I would have had "cranky, tense, forgetful, headaches etc... " like JaniceNW at Twist & Skewer and The Blue Ribbon Bloggers.

(Please bear with my wordy fragmented sentence...)

Because I don't want to forget- Anyway the Cincinnati Home Builders agreed that forgetting things was usually the biggest consequence and didn't seem bothered by my use of the word consequence as much as I was... But, on the flip side, I could have thought like Mauniejames3's from (Blue Ribbon Bloggers) husband who said that he "can fall asleep taking off his socks..he says its from being a good person who would never harm anyone.."

Or I could have been in what Robert from From The Roads said; "Now your in my wheel house..being an ex long haul trucker...longest I went 49 hours.. "

And I the way Dawn from Twisted Sister described herself after she is exhausted would have been a bad thing for an egg - "As a seasoned insomniac I can tell you that after 24 hours I am dizzy, nauseous and nasty!"

(Golly, an egg would be make itself nauseous after staying out and about a few days...)

Finally, I'm going to remember what Lady Banana wrote- Because I don't want to turn into a fried egg again- she wrote that she will "feel unwell if I decide to even stay up a bit late!"

And now for the best and most entertaining part of Tuesday's Question: The readers comments along with a link to their blogs. This is the first time I've included some of your words in my post. I just wanted to spice things up a bit and give you an extra and different url since I haven't posted the question in awhile.

Have fun and read on...

My first comment is from Speedy from Speedcat Hollydale Page

I am one of those people that will fall asleep while "walking" if I go more than 36 hours without sleep. I can't do it!
After about 24 hrs being awake, I start to get really foggy, and forgetful. Nothing like a good night of restful sleep!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then Cincinnati Home Builders

I too is having that can kind of day when i don't have a sleep.
Forgetting things that are important is usually the consequences

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And Janice at Blue Ribbon Bloggers
and Twist & Skewer

Hmmmm, can the dead read?

I get cranky, tense, forgetful, headaches etc. I am lots of issues with sleep so I take some sleep meds to help because I simply cannot function w/o some sleep. I envy anyone who can just fall asleep. Lack of sleep is very common of women in their late 30's and up (perimenopause/menopause) and to be frank hormonal surges etc suck!!

I tend to take naps right niw because I can and with nap or not I still cannot fall asleep before midnight, 1am.

Back in college I could pull an all nighter once a quarter and be okay............getting old isn't as fun as I'd thought it would be. Snicker.

One of my most loyal readers and friends Sandee from Comedy Plus
stated:

(And here's proof)

I think the post you are looking for is titled: Shh...Don't Wake Her!. You certainly have had a time of it. You just need to quit doing so much and get some sleep.

The phrase is if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

Big hug honey. Just get some rest. Okay? :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's Sandee again after she realized this post was Tuesday's Question. :)

I totally missed the question. Really. I totally missed the question. It was in the title and I didn't really look at that. Bwahahahahahahaha. Where's my prozac? :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here's my another dear friend and Tuesday's Question supporter, Dawn from Twisted Sister

(Here is proof of her support also)

I agree with Sandee... "You just need to quit doing so much and get some sleep."

As a seasoned insomniac I can tell you that after 24 hours I am dizzy, nauseous and nasty!

Get some rest Ann :)

Mauniejames3 from The Blue Ribbon Bloggers

Hi Ann..I lost three nights sleep in a row when my cousin Laurea died on March 17...I then was afraid to even lay down so I tended to post all night and leave messages...wish I could take some of them back...also I took hubbys car to go grocery shopping (even though it was only a few blocks away from the house) when I came out I was sure my car was stolen..I looked for my cell...left that at home..I started walking home with a grocery cart..looking like a frazzled homeless person...when I got home hubby took all the keys...I finally got meds, like Janice..and I have to use them every night..I have friends who only take them when needed...I think I need them every day...good luck with your good nights sleep..
really go see a doctor....hubby can fall asleep taking off his socks..he says its from being a good person who would never harm anyone...I may kill him in his sleep...

Lady Banana from Lady Banana said;

I used to be able to cope with a lot longer periods without sleep, now I really feel unwell if I decide to even stay up a bit late!

I read the ASS U ME in a Stephen King book and never forgot it!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And last but not least, another Tuesday's Question regular, Robert at From The Roads

Now your in my wheel house..being an ex long haul trucker...longest I went 49 hours...drove from Toronto to Las Vegas...you go through several stages repeated..ranging from dead drowsey..to almost a high the longer you go the shorter the cycles..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that's it~ Thanks to all of you who participated, and I hope to see you next week for another Tuesday's Question~

If you answered Tuesday's Question or just want to pretend you did you can copy the code for the brag badge below- it's totally optional, just for fun, I just wanted to let you know what it was doing at the bottom of my post~ :))
