Nice Matters Award! It Makes A Big Difference!

My good friend Sandee from Comedy Plus, send me an e-mail that said she was awarding me the "Nice Matters" award, given to her by Bridget from And Miles To Go Before We Sleep and Express Bee from Muffin. 53 I think it is a great name for an award, and it’s so true, nice really does matter, and make a big difference!

I think I had an angel visit this week since some great things have happened to me. First, my good friend Christy from Christy's Coffee Break and Writers Reviews added me as the co-author on her poetry site, A Hint of Poetry. Then the blog fairy paid me a visit, (sorry Bob) and now this! This has been one of the nicest weeks on my calendar this whole year!

There are so many nice bloggers who have been great to me, and I’m the one getting the nice award? I'm on cloud nine, in the company of great friends, who also believe that nice matters! Your friends have so much to do with your attitude and in turn, you have so much to do with theirs.

The bloggers creating these awards understand the difference we all make, they are the diamonds in the rough, and in every community, they magically show up when we need them.

The bloggers who are given awards, and then passing them on, in addition to sharing a kind word everyday, are making nice matter.

By encouraging niceness, we are empowering each other to live with a positive outlook, and sparking the interest of those who live in a bad mood. It’s harder to be kind when treated unkindly, but at the same time it's hard to be unkind when treated kindly, so it helps when someone is setting a positive example.

For instance, when someone is unkind, if you return the unkindness with a nice word or positive energy, it makes it hard for them to continue being nasty, thereby destroying the opportunity for a negative reaction.

The giving of these positive awards, including this one, supports the positive and kind atmosphere within the blogging community. If the atmosphere is positive and giving, and we're rewarding positive attributes, we're creating a nice place in the world, or to use one of my favorite sayings, A Nice Place In The Sun!

Of course I’m supportive of that idea! Here are the bloggers that I believe make nice matter, either in the blogging community or out in the world we live in-

Christy, From Christy’s Coffee Break
Ellen, from Non-Profit Communication blog

Winston, Eat Your Maths
Monday Morning Power
Kissing The Dogwood

When you are a recipient of the Nice Matters Award, please pass on the niceness, to

five blogs you think are nice and linking back to the blog who passed it to you!

Thank you again, Sandee at Comedy Plus and the blogger responsible for such an outstanding award, and thank you to all my other blogger friends who always make nice matter, I know who you are!

Congratulations on your award.

It's the little things like this that make the blogospere the place it is, with so many interesting blogs and the people behind them.

By being kind and helpful toward each other keeps communities united without barriers.....maybe the politicians could learn a thing or two here.

Well deserved award, enjoy and have a good day.

Ann, who would NOT like to come by and visit such a nice place. If there is anything I need right now (looking at this years' total lack of 'Summer' in the Netherlands alone would explain why..) it is a comfy little spot in the morning sunlight to spend my coffee breaks :)

What a nice thing to say Jos, and I'm glad you feel that way.

Thank you again, for coming by and commenting! :))

Gosh Ann - how generous of you to think of me and in the same terms as the other deserving names.

I get so much reward just being able to interact with wonderful people. I laugh, I learn, I'm moved - there's a whole gambit of positivity about blogging.

Getting an award for having a great time feels strange but I know in this virtual world it's truly precious to be recognised by those we aspire to follow - so thank you Ann. x

Congratulations on your award Ann, you certainly are a nice person, your light shines brightly.

Hi Ann, sorry for the late response, kind of hectic around here..
Congrats on your well deserved reward!! I've been going through your latest comments, and when I see the effect you have on your readers, you truly, truly deserve this award!!
Being an inspiration, and providing a warm place to people who need it is about all I could want to contribute to other people's lives!!
That alone is very inspiring to me, and I definitely hope to live up to receiving this award myself!!
Thanks!!!

I'm off for our holiday leave soon, will be looking forward to checking back with your blog when I get back!! (and finding out what new questions you've come up with!)
Enjoy,

Congrats on the award, albeit a late congrats on my behalf.
In a few of the Posts on my blog over the past year, I included commentary on the importance of genuineness and authenticity -- two qualities I see your Commenters implicitly saying about you. I believe them -- thus adding to the meaning of your Award.
I see so much plastic niceness in our world today... when some one says, "Have a nice day," I reflexively feel the bile coming up in my throat.
Congrats again!

Wow! I know what you mean Doc, and it was hard to try and write something about kindness, and not come off the same way. Thank goodness, I was able to display my true feelings without sounding like one of those plastic people you speak of. I love your choice of words. You vividly described the feeling one gets when people use kindness in their own self interest, or as a fake slogan. I can't stand that either. Thank you so much for pointing out that I'm not coming off that way. I'm asking my readers and you to shoot me with an elephant gun if I ever do! :))

Thanks a million for your comment!

Hey,thought I commented here, but i must have done so in another thread that time... :(

I am So grateful for this award. I can't say I am very nice for the matter, but I am grateful for your encouragement, and definitely I'm infinitely pleased on how 3 Tuesday Questions can show such drastic improvement.

I am stunned, but thankful that I managed to find your blog. All teachers have to learn, life is a learning process and I do have a lot to learn from you.

Thank you,Ann :)

Your welcome Winston, I did get a comment from you thanking me for the award. I'm not sure where it is , but I do remember reading it. :)

You deserve it, and you are a very nice person. Anyone who spends their time helping children is a nice person.

Keep being you!

Hi Ann,

just a quick note to let you know I've written a Thank You post for the awards you've given me! It took me some time to figure out the initiators of some of the awards, and they kinda belonged with the post I thought!
Thanks again of thinking of me, I've been going through some personal hardships and it really, truely meant a lot to me!!
Hope to be able to return the favour at some time!
