Paula from Six4Paula and formally Polliwog's Pond has given me the very rare, The Polliwog Award. Thank you Paula for the kind recognition and clear compliment awarded A Nice Place In The Sun, in addition to only three other recipients! I was truly touched when I read what you wrote in my comments:
"The Polliwog Award is for making a difference in people's lives. You don't pass it on, You just get it and know that you helped someone."
Isn't that great? Therefore, I wanted to say thank you Paula in a post and I will proudly display it on my special Awards page, because it is indeed special, and very much appreciated.

Blog Awards

I hope everyone had gobs of the kind of Christmas fun apparent in the picture posted above. An image you may recognize, since it's the same image I posted with my Christmas Gift Award post last week. The reason I'm using it again is to help clear up what appears to be some confusion in regards to the instructions intended to go along with the gifts.
But first, thanks to everyone who responded to my award post and adopted a gift. I was so happy when I read your comments, that I danced around my tree high on Christmas joy!
I am afraid, however that the rules or instructions have been misunderstood, so I decided to post them again. I just want to clear things up before it becomes too confusing to unravel, and so that everyone knows what to do in the event they receive a gift.
Here are the instructions along with a link to the original award post still posted on my title page. If you decide to pass along a gift, please copy the instructions highlighted below and list them in your award post, with a request to link back to the gifts original post -as is customary with most award nominations, the only difference here is that these are "gift " awards instead of awards . I apologize for the confusion, and I hope this post is easier to understand - Here are the instructions to go along they are listed in the awards original post.
They come with easy instructions, not like many other Christmas presents that are hard to assemble, so if you receive one of these gifts, read the following instructions: "Now, that you been nominated it's your turn to choose one, two, or all three of these gifts to adopt, and if you decide to pass them on, please pass them to the most magical and imaginative blogs on the internet. Blogs that encourage, year round, the same energetic and imaginative sense of wonder that is apparent throughout the Christmas season."
And again thanks to all of you who adopted and posted a gift award, you're simply the greatest friends a girl could have in the gigantic and sometimes scary world of blogging- and I hope you enjoy the rest of the holiday season.

I'm a Little Nutty...

Kesa at Aussie Cynic
Dawn from Twisted Sister, Sandee from Comedy Plus, Eric from Hollydale Speedcat Page, Jos from Additional Blog Love, from NoDirectOn (not:NoDirection) and Kimberly at Purple Frogcat (who, by the way created this award) all happen to think I'm a little nutty!
And you know, I've heard it said, if you hear gossip about someone one time, it's probably just a matter of opinion... and if you hear the same thing again, well... maybe there's something to it and maybe not... but if three people say the same thing... chances are there's some element of truth somewhere... So how do I defend myself if five people say they think I'm a little nutty? Boy! I hope I don't run into a Christmas cook, because I'm in danger of being tossed in a fruitcake! However, you may really think I'm nutty when I say this, but I'm actually a little proud to be called nutty, it's kind of interesting, plus the squirrel on the award is cute... so thanks to everyone who thinks I'm nutty! I think you're nutty too!
And I'm going to prove it by passing this award back to you and a few additional nut cases I've had the pleasure of meeting in the blogosphere... Congrats and keep on being nutty...just don't get caught by a cook and get tossed in a fruitcake before Christmas!
Find out who the nuts are after clinking on the "read more" sign~

Brad The Blogbee is Buzzing Around The Blogosphere
Brad The Blogbee, who lives at Polliwog's Pond has been buzzing around the blogosphere with his circler smile and big button nose, giving out the "Good Buzzz Blog Award" created with the help of Mike Wheeler at Things By Mike. The Good Buzzz Blog Award is for blogs that have generated a happy hum in the blogosphere. According to Brad The Good Buzzz Award is:
"
Now, that is the nicest bee buzz about a blog a blogger could hope for, and I'm honored he's buzzed about A Nice Place In The Sun. Thank you Brad The Blogbee and give Polli a buzz for me, (that means thank her too!)
Here are the blogs I believe are making a buzz around the blogosphere and I think Brad would agree. If you don't see your name for this award I have nominated you for another award that I haven't posted. A Roar For Powerful Words

Authors note: When I wrote this post I was disappointed that I couldn't find this awards creator. Although, as luck would have it Shameless from The Shameless Writing Circle saw the link through google and left a comment after this posting.
Here is the last part of his comment where he fills me in on the awards history: The award was in response to mainstream media commentators who dismiss the blogosphere as being just an outlet for "mediocre and mostly tatty writing". There couldn't be more proof to the contrary. Well done and keep up the good and powerful words. The circle can be found at: www.theshamelesslionswritingcircle.blogspot.com :-)
I'm glad Shameless found this post because now we can give him and his blog the recognition it deserves. Therefore, if you're an award recipient please link back to The Shameless Lions Writing Circle, and include his definition of the awards history when passing the roar to the powerful writers on your list.
Another Update: My very good friend Sandee from Comedy Plus found this awards origin on her own, and has it clearly posted on her site. If you are confused just drop by this link on Comedy Plus and copy the definition along with the link to the award in different colors. Great Job Sandee!
Original Post:
I wish I knew where The Shameless Lions Writing Circle is because I assume that's who created the A Roar For Powerful Words Award. I love the imagery of roaring words flying across the internet, in addition to the purple statue and title. This is a wonderful compliment for any wordsmith to receive and I won't forget my good friend Dawnfrom Twisted Sister, and her kind recognition. Thank you Dawn! I'm glad Meleah from Momma Mia Mea Culpa nominated Dawn at Twisted Sister, because Dawn nominated me! Thank you Dawn you're the one of the greatest!
"Here are the rules: Rules: The people given this award are encouraged to post it on their own blogs; list three things they believe are necessary for good, powerful writing; and then pass the award on to the five blogs they want to honor, who in turn pass it on to five others, etc etc. Let’s send a roar through the blogosphere!"
The three things I think are necessary for good and powerful writing are:
1)Read everyday and write a least two hours a day.
2) Show don't tell.
3)Write for yourself.
I know I've listed more than five bloggers but it was sooo hard to narrow the recipients down only a few... so I hope I'm forgiven since I only went over by four bloggers...

BeTheBlog!

BeTheBlog! I love the name of this award created by Mark of MeAndMyDrum, who said that the BeTheBlog phrase stuck in his head from a meme Tish from TheKatHouse sent him about what it means to be a successful blogger.
Actually to quote his words to BeTheBlog, "really sums up what a successful blogger does. And what I mean by successful is that they make it their own, stay with it, are interactive with their readers, and just plain have fun."
I apologize for another award acceptance post, but when your fellow bloggers recognize you for blog themes close to their heart, it doesn't seem right to put it off.
Especially, when you've been nominated by more than one blog for an exceptional award, an example of which is this one by a few fellow bloggers to me! I'm grateful to be nominated by the following outstanding blogs for a badge that awards bloggers for being most themselves, and having fun! What an honor, and I can't thank the following bloggers enough...
My best buddy and co-author on A Hint Of Poetry, Christy, from her blog Writers Reviews, along with the very sweet Shinade, from the The Painted Veil were among the first followed by;
Jos at NoDirectOn(not:NoDirection)
Sandee at Comedy Plus
Dawn at Twisted Sister
Thanks to all of you wonderful bloggers, this meant a whole lot to me. Here are the blogs I believe have the characteristics Mark wrote about;
Oh, first I almost forgot, Mark has three flavors of the award from which recipients can choose. They are Midnight Oil, Creamy Cabernet, and pink smoothie, and they're all really classy. Just stop by MeAndMyDrum and pick up the code to paste on your blog.
O.K. This time it's real, here are my nominees:

Aussie Cynics Integrity

I thought,The Little Aussie Cynic deserved its own post title, because this blog is one of the happiest places to visit on the internet. Aussie is one of my first blogging buddies in the blogosphere. I met her on blog catalog when I hardly knew anyone, and knew less about what I was doing than I do now. Can you imagine that? It was a scary experience, and the blogs author, Aussie, was so kind, reaching out to me then, as she is reaching out to me and others now, in a rare and personable manner, a manner that could put a wild boar at ease. She is responsible for a lot of my early happy memories writing A Nice Place In The Sun.
Plus, have you seen Aussie's blogs new template? The ocean colored background is warm and inviting, very much in keeping with the atmosphere the author has consistently portrayed since I first read her blog.
I hope I didn't embarrass you Aussie, I just wanted to publicly thank you for thinking of me, and I was blown away by a nomination for creativity.
Here's Aussie's post:
"After looking, reading and watching many many Blogs and bloggers I decided to issue some recognition to those fellow bloggers I feel maintain integrity in the Blogs.

All these bloggers incorporate within their wonderful sites, an integrity not always seen.
They share terrific stories, topics, discussions and images. All Well worth a look.
So in the spirit of Wonderful blogs
I would like to award the Bloggers with Integrity Award
to:
For Creativity
For The Spirit of Giving
For Staying True To Their Beliefs
For Social Conscience
Keeping it Real
So congratulations to all and keep up the fabulous work you do…. We love it!"
And Aussie we love you! In honor of Aussie's really inspiring and heartfelt gesture, I would like to award the following blogs in keeping with her format. I really liked the thought and effort Aussie put into each category, so I wanted to honor her by doing the same thing.
So without further rambling, and much hand wringing here are my choices... That is after this brief update, on Oct.30...
I would like to add that after this post was written this award made a real impact on the blogging community. It is hopping around like a cat trying to keep its balance on a slippery rooftop! After nominating Sandee from Comedy Plus in the "Spirit Of Giving" category", Aussie turned around and awarded Sandee for the same category on her blog that I nominated Aussie for in the Social Conscience category entitled, Coillision of the Willing. Now, tell me that's not some hopping around nominations. It's just like I predicted, the award is so personable blogs you know with these qualities instantly pop in your head after you read the the category. Congrats Aussie on the success of Bloggers With Integrity. And thank you Sandee from Comedy Plus for also awarding me in the category, "For The Spirit of Giving." Anyway, here is the list of my recipients...
I would like to pass on Aussie's Integrity Award to the following Bloggers...

The Mariuca Super Star Award!
My very best buddy Christy from Christy's Coffee Break nominated me for the Mariuca's Superstar award! I love it, love it, love it Christy!
When I read the award title I thought of a Saturday Night Live character who says I love it, love it, love it, as she kicks her legs in the air! She's kidding, well actually overacting to be funny, but I wasn't when I danced around my living room with my groovy new award, reciting I love it, love it, love it!
Evidently, Mariuca's readers missed her enough to leave comments when she was away, so she created this award to thank them. As I read Mariuca post, I realized how considerate and kind bloggers can be, or I should say friends can be. Good bloggers use the opportunity to write in a positive way, a way that makes a real difference in the lives of others every day.
I think those are the bloggers Mariuca is referring to as Superstars! Thank you Christy for thinking of me as one of those bloggers, and thank you Mariuca for creating this award. Mariuca seems like a special person, and I know Christy's friendship is a virtue. I'm happy to be on the planet with these two woman.
I think the following blogs have the characteristics so often associated with what Mariuca, Christy and I think of as a Super Star.

The Friendly Site Award!

Speedycat Hollydale is one of the nicest new friends I've met lately. And I'm not saying this because he gave me an award, ...well, no, it's because he is a nice and funny blogger, with a great sense of humor, a funny bone that runs in the family according to his post on Santa's Community blog.Evidently, on a shopping trip during the holiday's, Speedy's eyebrows were still painted from playing Santa, but nobody told him. It's a really funny post, and I think he's going to be a fun fellow blogger. I look forward to more laughs Speedy and I thank you for your generous heart.
Speedy was given this really nice award by Erina from Into The Inkpot, (isn't that a neat name?)
Erina tried to find the creator of the award to give them credit, but was unable to to find out where it originated. So please, if it's you or you know where we can credit the link, please let someone know. It's really pretty and a nice thought so everyone wants to thank the creator.
I think the following blogs are spectacular on top of being friendly:
Christy'sCoffeeBreak the best of the best
Totally Fabulous
Revellian
Dutchcorner
MondayMorningPower
Comedy Plus
Polliwog's Pond
Bobbarama.com
Thanks again Speedy.

The Community Blogger Award

I've been awarded the Community Blogger Award by my good friend Dawn at Twisted Sister, in addition to my other good friend Sandee at Comedy Plus who included me in her community award list in her acceptance post. Thanks to you both!
I love the ideology behind this award and I'm thrilled that these two ladies would think of me when passing it along. The community award originated with Cellobella at the Sultana blog, who said, "I wanted the award to say - this is a person who reaches out and makes my blogger community a better one." I think that is so kind and I'm thrilled to be in the position to pass it along as well as be included in the blogroll.
Cellobella asks that nominees of this award e-mail her at (cellobella at gmail dot com) so that she can add your nominees to her blogroll. I will add the following bloggers.
Christy at Christys Coffee Break
Santa at Santa's Community blog
Sandee with Comedy Plus I know you added me, but I just think you are the greatest, and you added me as well.

My Bobbarama Award Choices
But, I'm not pretending to select the blogs for the Bobbaramas awards! I just have one award, (because of friendship) and that's the one I share with my super fabulous friend Christy, the Totally Fabulous Award.
The Totally Fabulous Award is the creation of real woman of genius, whereas Bobbarama's awards are the creation of "Real Men of Genius"
Remember Sunday when I announced that Bobbarama gave me the Best Kept Secret Award? My cat Simon and I danced around the living room, (he loves it) I was so excited!
Well, it doesn't matter if you forgot, although I never will ... However, you must remember this announcement today! I 've finally chosen my ten choices for the two awards just in the empty nest tree nick of time!
This second part of my awards post says practically the same thing, with one big exception!
This is the post where I actually give the awards!
I had the first part of this pretend ceremony this morning when I surprised announced that I would pass along my choices today.
Thank you Mr. Bobbarama, and I 'm feeling as groovy as a girl can feel about an award! This beauty will remain a treasured part of my sidebar forever and ever!

Surprise! My Choices For Bobbarama Awards Today!
Hello bloggers and bloggettes and welcome to my never before annual A Nice Empty Nest Award Show! Only kidding, I mean about the award show, because you can't have an awards show if you don't have a show. I'm pretending this is show ...
But, I'm not pretending to choose the blogs for the Bobbaramas awards!
I 'll be choosing my ten choices for the two awards some time today on empty nest tree time! Which is any unpredictable erratic time of the day, although I promise, it will be today!
Look in my sidebar and you'll see Bobbarama's Awards, and how terrific they are. They share an excellent design with our Totally Fabulous Award by the talented Mike at Ordinary folk.
I can't wait to pass them on to the well deserving blogs I've carefully chosen this week.
I'm sorry for the delay but as things go for a writer, I'm behind on a deadline, just ran out of time. Actually, I had Friday as the day I would tag my choices posted in my sidebar all week.
I was going to pass the award on Friday, so today's a surprise, hence the picture. Then I ran out of time, sorry. :( I always wanted to run an award ceremony, so I posted this announcement.
So be sure and watch Technorati today because empty tree nest time is unpredictable!
I will definitely choose my five choices for the Break Out Blogger, and the Best Kept Secret Bobbarama Awards sometime today! (So stay tuned!)
Here's Bobbarama's link, ...( to the real "Blogiversary"awards.) It's a great blog to read in addition to an awards ceremony second to none, in fun!
Have a really good day, and eat something healthy for lunch!

Bobbarama's Best Kept Secret Award!

Bob, from Bobbarama.com apparently kept the names of many yet to be discovered blogs a secret until he was ready to reveal his gift of acceptance and friendship, in the form of the Best Kept Secret Award.
Actually Bob has two beautifully designed awards he announced yesterday called the Blogiversary Awards Only someone with a big heart could make up such a name! In addition to the Best kept Secret Award, he also revealed the The Break Out Blogger Award.
I'm happy to announce that Bob included A Nice Place In The Sun as one his first-ever recipients of this incredible honor, and I just had to let my readers know...immediately!"We all have a Best Kept Secret blogger or two we visit regularly — a blogger with great style and wit and warmth who hasn’t been discovered yet. Here’s our chance with this award to say, ‘Wow. Check out this blogger!’
Golly it feels so good to receive recognition from such an outstanding blog!
I am truly shattered! This post is not my official acceptance post because I need more time to select the blogs who reflect the spirit of the award. This is what Bob said about the Best Kept Secret Award;
WOW! Isn't that a fantastic definition for an award?
I wanted to make an announcement in appreciation for such an honor, in addition to shed light on something I noticed about these awards that I think is special.
I wanted to point out another Best kept secret that Bob has revealed. In other words the author's kind disposition is out of the bag! Best Kept Secret is for those blogs who haven't been discovered yet, like this one, however they still received recognition based on their material and not on their technorati ranking. I think that's what Tony Tiger used to say is GreaaaaT! Thank you Bob from Bobbarama you are Totally Fabulous!
In addition congratulations to the bloggers whose blogs were selected for the Best Kept Secret and Break Out Blogger awards! I will post my selections on Friday!Oh , and Bob, I will enjoy this award so please don't sent out your attack cat, Swear! I already have enough problems with my SimonCat! "
Look for my selections on Friday! In the meantime read Bob's Blogiversary post about both awards the first recipients! Award design was created by the very talented Mike Wheeler of Ordinary Folk

More Totally Fabulous Blogs
Christy, from Totally Fabulous and I have created this Totally Fabulous Award for bloggers!
We will be giving this award out to those bloggers who are fun, cool, and of course Totally Fabulous!
If you'd like to pass this award to some more fabulous people then go right ahead, we have lifted the limit you can give out, and it really isn't required you give out any at all, it's totally up to you!(no pun intended) Christy suggested we make the award free of any rules to begin with, and gave out as many as she saw fit. Then our great friend and hilarious blogger, Sandee, from Comedy Plus played by her own rules and gave out as many as she wanted as well. lol! When I saw that the two of these bloggers (who are obviously more experienced bloggers than I) gave out more than five awards, I thought, well...
I missed it up again, ... and now I have some "'splaining to do" as Ricky Ricardo would say, ...or should I say an apology to make? I'm sorry, ... but happy to have a chance to make it up to the blogs I left out due to the rule. Congrats and please except my apology! Have fun giving out as many as you like, and link them back to Christy and Me! Also, please link your post back to the original post on Totally Fabulous, so that there's an original point of reference.
Have fun!
Here are some more fabulous blogs most of which were on my new blogs on blogroll list that possess the qualities we felt typical of Totally Fabulous award recipients,

This award was designed by Mike Wheeler of Ordinary Folk. If you would like to have a cool blog badge, award, or special profile picture created then contact the artist for his rates. ~
