Tuesday's Question, Childhood Dreams

Readers/Bloggers comments are posted after the main post with a link to their blogs~

Hello, and welcome to the 40th Tuesday's Question posted on A Nice Place In The Sun. All participates answers will be posted today in this post along with a link to their site, but you don't have to own a blog to participate. All you have to do is write your answer in comments and I will do the rest~

In addition, every participate is welcome to a Tuesday's Question Brag Badge posted with a code in my sidebar. The Brag Badge gives you the opportunity to bring your visitors to archived Tuesday's Questions where you can show off your ingenuity from your past comments.

Whether you are participating or reading I thank you for stopping by for a visit. Answers will be posted as quickly as possible throughout the day with a link to the bloggers who commented, therefore, don't forget to visit the participating bloggers blogs. Chances are if you liked their comments you will like their blogs. Have Fun, and remember Tuesday's Question is a weekly post of original questions, well, questions off the top of my head anyway. ~

Today’s Question is: If your fairy Godmother appeared to grant three of your childhood dreams or wishes, what would they be? All of us had fantasies and heroes when we were children, what were yours? For example, what if you had the opportunity to magically transform into Batman, pilot your own airplane, dance on Broadway, or star in your own movie, which three would you choose? Which movie star, Disney character, novelist, or songwriter did you admire?

However, those are just examples, you can choose more realistic childhood dreams that could come true with or without the help of a fairy Godmother. All morning, I tried to decide whether to ask what three wishes you would ask a fairy godmother at this time, or what three childhood wishes you would pick. Therefore, if you would prefer to answer the adult form of the question, I suppose it would be fine with your fairy godmother. In addition, one of the main objectives of the Tuesday’s Question feature is to help us learn more about you, and your wishes and dreams are a big part of who you are. Moreover, you never know, a fairy godmother may be listening, especially if you believe in magic, because if you believe in your dreams anything is possible.

For instance, magic has happened before on this blog; for one thing this is the 40th question, and what began as a way to get to know my readers, introduce bloggers to each other, and share link love has created many important friendships for others; and me and I find that pretty amazing.

Also, I would like to offer a special thanks to my regular supporters of Tuesday's Question, (you know who you are) because this feature wouldn't still exist if it weren't for you.

Remember, because your comments are published in real time, (or as close as possible) feel free to comment to each other, copy the links to new bloggers blogs, and have a good time. Are you ready? Here’s the question again,

If your fairy Godmother appeared to grant three of your childhood dreams or wishes, what would they be?

Sandee's comment:

First, it's great to see a Tuesday's Question. Fabulous.

1. That my parents never got into that awful car accident in the late 60s. It really did kind of end my dads good health.

2. That I could have enjoyed my high school years. We lived on a farm and we milked cows every 12 hours. I was the eldest so I had to help milk cows, along with a million other chores.

When I started high school I was voted to be the princess of the first official dance. I couldn't go. It ended my popularity pretty much.

I attended one football game in all the years of high school. I just wasn't allowed to do anything. I can still hear my parents saying, "You have to do your chores."

3. That my family would have been more loving. It's not that we didn't love each other, but we just didn't show it. We weren't taught to hug those we loved, so we didn't. We siblings are hugging each other now, but it would have been so nice when we were growing up.

Thanks Ann for an opportunity to relive some of my past and mostly for being able to make it better...even if I really can't. Big hug and lotsa lovies honey. :)

My next comment came from another friend and veteran of Tuesday's Question, Paula at Paula's Playground

Paula always writes the nicest comments. Read this,

Hi beautiful. So glad to see the question today! What a great one it is too. It's hard to remember what wishes I had as a kid but I'll try.

1) I always wished for my mom and dad to be happy and healthy. My mom was sick a lot of my childhood due to a back injury and a bucketload of surgeries. She is good now, but most of my teen years she spent in bed and I hated watching her suffer and be in pain.

2) I wanted to be a dancer or a ballerina on the stage and wished for that. In my dreams sometimes I dance and dance and dance. I think it is such a freeing form of self-expression.

3) I would always wish for lots of kids when I got to be a grown-up. Well, look at that! One of the wishes did come true! :-) I guess I should remind myself of this when they are driving me crazy. (smile)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then, my buddy Dawn from Twisted Sister, who always makes me smile...plus, blogging just wouldn't be blogging without her.

Like Sandee said... it's great to see Tuesday's Question again!

1. I desperately wanted to live with the Brady Bunch. I knew it was just TV but I used to imagine it was real. They had a large family and everything was perfect. I had a large family and everything was not!

2. I would lie awake at night and pray that my parents would move back to Toronto. I had a hard time adjusting to country life... although I did in the end :)

3. I wished I would grow. I was the runt of the litter and still am! Although I am grateful for it now... I was teased a lot for my size as a kid.

Thanks for the therapy Ann! I feel much better now :)-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then, I was thrill to see that the always hilarious and kind Sue from Farvel Cargo stopped by to give us a laugh.

WooHoo! Three wishes!
Ann how have you been? I've been sending happy thoughts your way!

Dear Fairy Godmother, my first wish is for bigger boobs. This wish can be applied to either back when I was a kid or now.

Dear Fairy Godmother, in the sixth grade I really would have liked to have had the guts to finish cheer leading tryouts. I chickened out at the end and ran to my mother waiting in the car. They said I would have made the squad had I stuck it out.

Dear Fairy Godmother, how about granting me the wisdom to listen to my parents when they said an education is important.

There you have it, now if someone would let me borrow their time machine, it would be swell.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And another dear friend who also writes good comments, Ferd from The Best Parts

Finally! Geesh! A Tuesday Question! Where the heck have you been!?!
Kidding!!! I'm really glad to see you back!! I worried about and missed you, Annie!

1. Growing up, our family was very disconnected. We still are, except for a very few things that bring us together. It is the reason that today I long for connection. Fortunately, that wish is slowly being granted. I am slowly learning to do that, which does not come naturally to an introvert.

2. Ever since I can remember, I wanted to be a doctor. That wish did come true, and it has been a very important part of my life.

3. I wanted and needed a loving and healthy primary relationship. It took a while, but that dream has also come true.

I guess I have a lot of blessings to count! Thanks, Annie!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And another blogging buddy, Jeni from Down River Drivel

THe things I wanted most growing up were 1) a brother or a sister; 2) a dad and 3) marriage and a large family -the house with the white picket fence type thing.
I was an only child and hated it -absolutely hated it! My dad died when I was not quite 3 weeks old so I never knew him. I didn't realize that it was the fact I didn't know what he was like, therefore, how I may have been like him and that lack of knowledge created a lot of angst I guess you could say within me as I tried to figure out who I really am.
I did marry -had three children and now, 3 grandchildren -my absolute pride and joy as you know if you've followed my blog for any length of time. Over the past 10 years or so I have slowly come to learn bits and pieces about my Dad, what he was like, what he liked too, as I have been digging in to family tree research. And as to brothers and sisters, over the years I have often done my own brand of adopting brothers and sisters -even quasi-parents too and my kids have adopted many of these people as their substitute grandparents, aunts/uncles, extended families as well. Who knows, maybe someday I will even find someone who accepts me for who and what I am and might even find marital happiness after all. I'm not looking exactly but if someone came along that was comfortable with me and I, with him, I wouldn't walk away from it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My next comment is another touching one from Ettaerose at ettarose-edgeofsanity.com

Annie, I am glad you are feeling well enough to do Tuesday's question. My three wishes are as follows;
1 Parents who really loved each other the way I think they should have. My Mom died a quick sad death and my Dad remarried after 8 months. I was told by him that he finally knew what real love was.
2 I wish my children were not harmed by someone when they were growing up. I still have a hard time with this.
3 I have always wanted to be a doctor. More than anything. Being married at 16 I never did.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And last, but certainly not least Maunie at Mauniejames2 left one of her great comments.

Hi honey,
First congrats on winning blog of the day over at Santa's...

1. I was not the cherished child so I always pretended that I was adopted and my real Mom would came rescue me...I adored my Dad and hoped he and I could just disappear.

2. Most people on one side of the family were very musical and boy I wanted to be able to sing...My son who has a band told me to stop singing to my granddaughters because they may be tone deaf...I sang to them anyway...and taught them many songs...so there.

3. That I went to college instead of modeling school...my parents never listened to me...why in this instant did they give in...I'm the only one in my family who doesn't have a full degree...what a dope...
I've had tons of courses but its disjointed and they don't add up to a full degree.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Double and triple thanks to all of you who participated. All of your comments were passionate, heartfelt, and most of all honest... It is really impressive to read, and I appreciate all of you~

Hey you, It's good to see you too. I'm sorry it's taking me so long to reply. I was having little computer problem...thank goodness, it's o.k..

It's sounds like you really had a difficult time, bless your heart. I wish you could have enjoyed your High school years more and that your parents had not had been involved in the car accident too. That had to have been scary for all of you.

This comment really touched me Sandee. I wish we were assigned fairy Godmothers that could help us erase the pain in the past and future.

But you know when I read about how you and your siblings show each other affection now, I thought about how impressive it is that you changed a learned behavior. It sounds like you love each other very much.

Not only that, but you have an empathy and kindness toward others, that may be still, but it runs deep. Everyone knows that about you.

And although I know it may not be a consolation, your past probably helped develop your strong character and sense of loyalty that you don't see much of in people anymore. I felt sad for you that you couldn't be the princess of the first official dance. Mainly, because I know you deserved it be.

It reminded me of a time in high school when my mother (although she won a parish beauty contest yourself) wouldn't let me accept a certificate with 50 other girls for what they called the Fairest 50 girls in my senior class. Her reason, which I do understand (a little) now was that she wanted to make the point that there is more to being a woman than what you look like, or that beauty contests were superficial.

However, it wasn't really a beauty contest, and what high school senior cares about that anyway? Mainly it embarrassed me.

Also, my family isn't big in the affection or giving compliments department either.

I'm sorry that you had to grow up too fast.

Although, I'm grateful you lived through it and became the Sandee that we know and love. And I hope we have fairy godmothers that will explain why some wishes don't come true one day.

Thanks for being such a good friend and for your constant support of Tuesday's Question and me.

Big hug and lotsa lovies back to you always~

Hi ya Polli, Thanks for the welcome back~ I missed all of you, especially my regular Tuesday's Question commenter's. And you did a great job answering what I thought may be a tough question.

I was sorry to read that your Mom was sick during your childhood, but it's great that she's better now.
And I loved the way you phrased your second wish. It made me want to become a dancer.

I love to watch professional dancers, especially dancers who are so graceful they make it look easy. And I laughed at your number three.

Earlier, I was thinking the same thing about having children. What I mean is, I think it was one of my only wishes that came true too, except I wanted to have four children and had one.

You do have your hands full, but you're blessed. I bet you've got a lively bunch.

Thanks for another great comment, and I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. I'm dragging today.

I'm publishing your comment now.

e-hug~

Dawn, Thank you, it's good to be back. Although, I think I'm as slow as a turtle, I'm here. I still haven't visited any of your blogs today.

I also wanted to live with the Brady's. (laugh) Or have a family like theirs...although now I'm not sure if I would be comfortable with a few of those characters. (laughing) I think the Brady's were the 70's modern day equivalent of Leave It To Beaver.

You know the perfect family that doesn't exist?

I bet moving from a large city out to the country was hard. I remember almost moving one time and how scared I was of just the idea. Adjustments are hard enough when you're an adult, let alone when you're a child. But then I'm a chicken when it comes to change. I always have been.

And I loved your third wish. It sounds like something wished by a young child. It also sounds to me like you were picked on for your size, because the other children were jealous.

Shoot, I'm jealous. (Smile)I'm 5'7, so I would feel like a giant standing next to you. I've always wanted to be petite.

Now, I need the therapy. (laughing)

Thanks for the great wishes my friend~

Hey Sue, (laughing) You took my first wish~ :)) (I'm kidding, but not really)

And at least you made through the cheerleader try-outs. Our P.E teacher who was the head of the cheerleaders, took one look at me and said, "Ann, you better catch your Mom before she leaves..."

Can you believe that? I would have made it too, I guess she thought I was too "mischievous" for her to deal with or something... In any event, I didn't make it...

However, I probably would've ran to the car as well, given the chance. I think I subconsciously knew the teacher didn't like me.

I can't believe you made it to the end of try-outs and then ran to the car. I think they should have let you in anyway. I mean geez, what good does "you would have made it if..." do anybody? Well, I'm proud of you...I know that makes a difference. (Smile)

Plus, I loved your third "Dear, Fairy Godmother wish" in addition to how you addressed her.

I also wish I would have listened to my parents when they begged me to listen to them about an education. But no, I was in love...

It's so sickening...

In closing, thank you Sue for your comment and for the happy thoughts you've been sending my way. I think they worked...:)))

And if I find a time machine, I'll let you know...(Smile)

Cheers, e-hug~

I'm back again. I had to come back and thank you for the sweet reply to me Ann. And I hope you get some rest and I'm sending energy vibes to you right now.

I loved Sue's answers so much. She made me laugh out loud. Especially the boobs one.

And I wanted to tell Dawn that I too was picked on for my size when I was a kid, just it was for the opposite reason. I was teller than everyone else. I now love being tall (I'm 6 feet tall!) and learned to love myself the way I am. Dawn's answers touched my heart as well.

Ferd, Ha ha... Oh, I've been doing this and that, nothing much really...

All kidding aside for a second, thanks for caring and I missed all of you too. :))

I think many families are somewhat disconnected. And I've noticed that many bloggers long for a connection. Plus, I know what you mean about introverts. I wouldn't except that my son is an introvert.

It is a successful musician so has learned to turn his energy around in some ways, but many things are difficult for him that pass me by~

I'm proud of you for learning how to make a connection. I do know what you mean about that. I'm an extrovert, but I can be extremely private, and at times introverted. I guess that probably doesn't make much sense, but I suppose on a sliding scale I lean more toward extroverted side.

It's great that you've been able to make your dreams come true. I've been blessed enough to almost get there, although I still have a ways to go. I bet you're a good doctor.

Thanks for commenting Ferd~

Hey Paula, (laughing) I'm glad you came back again, and thank you for leaving such kind comments, in addition to good energy vibes.

Sue is funny, isn't she? I laughed aloud too, her and Dawn are too much...

I didn't know that you're six feet tall. That's model height. Kids probably picked on you out of jealously too, or you know how they are...They find anything especially other girls.

I remember being picked on because I didn't know how to jump rope. Isn't that dumb? But it really bothered me.

It's good that you learned to love yourself the way you are. More people should aspire to that attitude, especially girls.

It was nice of you to come back.

e-hug and cheers~

Jeni, It's a shame you didn't know your Dad, but wonderful how you're learning about him by researching your family tree. Although, I don't think your family has to necessarily to be your blood. As you said, extended families can also be your family.

I have read about your grandchildren, in fact in your last post I believe you were hosing one of them down. (laughing) And I believe your daughter referred to spraying him with the hose as a "Redneck shower." I hope I quoted that right. My memory is not what it used to be. :))
Well, it sounds like many of our dreams to have children came true, doesn't it?

Thanks for answering Tuesday's Question. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed your comment.

Cheers~

Hey Ettarose, I just passed along your wonderful award. It's so pretty and I really appreciate it.

Your wishes filled me with emotion. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, and I cannot believe your Dad said what he did. Sometimes, I don't think parents realize that children are children, not little people. I know his statement must have hurt you something awful.

And I don't know what happened to your children, but I'm also a parent, so just reading your sentence was painful to me. I'm so sorry for whatever it was~

In addition, I'm sorry that your dream of becoming a doctor didn't happen. You're such a nice person and you deserved to have all your dreams come true.

Thank you for your brave comment, and I hope this question didn't make you too sad. It wasn't my intention and you always make me laugh. Although, I do have a lighter post before this one...

Again, I think you're a brave and strong lady, and I hope you have a great day.

Huge hug,

Annie

P.S. Thanks for all of your get well wishes. They meant a lot to me. :))

Congrats~

Hey Maunie, I didn't know I won the blog of the day at Santa's blog. Thank you for letting me know. How do you feel?

Your comment is great as usual. You have a natural ability to take something painful and turn it into something comical. I guess behind comedy there is usually a lot of pain.

I bring this up, because your first wish made me laugh. I never thought of pretending I was adopted...that sounded like a pretty good idea. (Smile) The mother/daughter relationship can be rocky...can't it?

I also wanted to be a singer and was temporarily, but now I just play (guitar) and sing for family and friends. Also, I bet you were good, so there. My son is also a musician. And its wonderful how you taught songs to your granddaughters.

And your number three wish; that your parents never listened to you at the right times,(Smile) also sounds familiar...

But you know that intellect has nothing to do with education, thank goodness. Take my ex-husband for instance. I dropped out of college to let him finish. Bad plan. Because when you're born an idiot it doesn't get any better.

But, although, I'm sure you're smarter than most people who finished school, I'm sorry that you're sorry you didn't finish. But I'm glad your here now writing a comment on my blog. :))

Have a great day Maunie. Oh, and by the way I nominated you for three awards, so look for your link in the post before this one. And congrats~

I'm also going to publish this comment on this post.

Hug hug,

Annie
