Still Decorating An Empty Nest

Since, I haven't posted in about a week, I thought I should write a quick update. I'm still decorating my apartment in addition to what you might call triple tasking.

My son lives out of town and we talk on the phone often, but since he's coming home for Christmas I'm polishing every twig in my empty/full nest.

Why didn't anyone tell me that motherhood never ends? It's alright, I'm happy about that, in fact, I obviously suffer from empty nest syndrome. But, I didn't realize that once your children left the nest, they would return to peek in your refrigerator.

In addition to holiday decorating, I have three deadlines to meet for magazine articles, two manuscripts in need of a query letter, and a Christmas post for you, my blogging buddies.

I don't know how I accumulated a mountain of Christmas ornaments, but I did, and now, I haven't the slightest idea how they're going to fit on a small artifical tree.

I guess my ornament collection grew over the years because I used to get large trees, but that ended when my son became a teenager and it was his turn to put the tree in the stand.
-Although this could be my fault because I did suggest he get a job one year at a Christmas tree farm during his holiday break.-

After his first day of work, I can still see him standing at our front door covered with pine needles and dirt.
He ran his eyes over his body, outstretched his arms to keep his hands from touching his clothes, looked at me and said,

"Mom, why don't we get artificial trees from now on?"

I couldn't help but laugh and we've had an artificial tree every year since that Christmas.

Although today, I'm tempted to drive to a tree farm, buy a large tree and ask him to take it down after the holidays.

But, I have to go to the grocery store instead, 'cause my refrigerators empty.

Next post coming soon...

Laughing...you are so right. Thank you, Sandee. I loved your post yesterday, and I'm sure I will love what you posted today as well.

I was so happy and surprised you commented so quickly because I had to keep editing it. I kept finding all sorts of problems with the placement of my paragraphs and I couldn't figure out how to remove the space at the end of the post.

So, I hope it read well for you.

Thanks for always being here.

You have a fabulous day too, and Simon says thanks for the scritches.

"Big hugs" back to you-

Words are the core of our souls, without written, vocal or lyrical expression we lose sight of one another or worse, ourselves. Words bring forth the essence of the human spirit; so express yourself without abandon.

I remember I used to half believe and wholly play with fairies when I was a child. What heaven can be more real than to retain the spirit-world of childhood, tempered and balanced by knowledge and common-sense...
