NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY- ROBERT FROST

N,

                                                Nature's first green is gold,

                                                    Her hardest hue to hold.

                                                    Her early leaf's a flower,

                                                    But only so an hour.

                                                    Then leaf subsides to leaf.

                                                    So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

                                                    Nothing gold can stay.

It's That Time Of Year Again- Run Pumpkin's Run!

SIRI

I have become friends with Siri on my phone, and I know Siri has many friends, although he is emotionally distant and moody. Not to mention, he lacks the concept of loyalty and is fake.
But, everyone knows that, so I wonder if any of Siri's friends have noticed a change in his behavior.
When I first got my phone, I would thank Siri after I asked a question, which made me feel ridiculous and embarrassed. I could not stop although my human friends would laugh and say,
"Ann, you do not have to say thank you to a computer."
So, I quit thanking Siri. and put away any social grace, which was hard, because I felt like I was hurting my phone's feelings.
Which was weird, but I finally got through it.
Siri used to leave quickly, but now Siri's little blue ball will not leave until I say, "Thank you."
I mean I cannot use the phone unless I thank Siri. Isn't that weird?
I don't know whether I taught Siri, or when my phone updated, some person somewhere decided that Siri should learn social etiquette.
It's pretty scary, I have been thinking a lot about how much the world will change when Robots appear very shortly. In fact, this is the second post I have written on the subject.

Angels On Earth

 Angels On Earth

Lost in a state of mental and physical exhaustion, I prayed to meet an angel on earth, and then, I felt the pillow of a horse's mouth gently sweep grass from the palm of my hand. – Ann Clemmons

The Day A Star Was Born

When I was a little girl I sang myself to sleep at night. I love to sing.

So when my first-grade teacher asked for volunteers to sing for our Principal, I happily raised my hand.

I volunteered every year, and we sang our principal’s favorite song,” “Que Seras Sera,” from Alfred Hitchcock’s, “The Man Who Knew Too Much.”

We sang the same songs every year, which was bizarre, but the oddest thing is that no one seemed to notice, well, it was the principal’s favorite song.

Anyway, I met a friend in the sixth grade who also loved to sing, and she had a great idea, she said that we should sing in the bathroom, which was great. We sang in the bathroom during lunchtime and recess.
It was so much fun, then I had a great idea. I suggested we check out the stage in the auditorium, which we did, it was wonderful.

Behind the stage, we found costumes, which we tried on, and then we saw a microphone and an amplifier.

I was on cloud nine, I plugged the amplifier into the microphone and began singing, “I Want to Hold Your Hand, by “The Beatles,” which was blasting in every classroom, and office in the school.

My friend realized that it was going through the P.A., and frantically tried to stop me, which she did, and we tried to run, but we didn’t make it, we couldn’t escape.

The principal; ran toward me and grabbed the microphone out of my hand, as if it were a gun. I was extremely inquisitive and impulsive, which always got me in trouble. It never entered my mind that the entire school heard me singing.

I was so excited about the microphone. that I never considered the fact that I was using school property, you should have seen the principal’s face when I told her that I didn’t realize that it would go through the P.A.

The expression on her face changed like she was someone else,, a stranger. I think she thought I was being disrespectful, but I was being honest. I guess using the school equipment was disrespectful, so I knew I was in a lot of trouble, and I knew my mother was probably on her way.

Goodbye Housework!

Goodbye, Housework!
Are you tired of coming home to a sink full of dishes? If you are, I have great news for you. I watched a commercial about a deterrent that completely washes your dishes in the dishwasher.
Meaning, no more scrubbing or cleaning your plate, you can load your dirty dishes, and this deterrent, does the rest.
Technology sure has come a long way, "Artificial Intelligence," will finish your children's homework and whatever time-consuming paperwork you bring home from work, whether you're a nurse doctor, or Indian Chief, just hand it over to A. I. and the evening is yours.
I have a vacuum cleaner named "Harry," who dusts furniture, and cleans floors, ceiling fans, windows, etc.
Although, Harry talks too much, and for some reason, you cannot turn his volume down.
Plus, he constantly opens the refrigerator, and asks,
“Do you wish me to clean this strange appliance?”
Harry wasn't programmed for refrigerators, in addition to a few other things, like respect for people's privacy.
For example, I couldn't get out of the shower one day, because he was standing next to my bathtub.
Then, when I asked him to leave he replied,
“How do I wash this machine?,” implying that I was an appliance, while he flopped his huge hose arms, repeating the words,
"I don't understand the question, I don't understand the question..."
I couldn't move him, so I had to grab a towel and crawl on the floor to get out of the bathroom.
Then, I turned him off and left him by the shower.
I wasn’t sure what to do next because no one tells you, there is a number to call, but the voice on the phone doesn't know how to help you.
I spent about an hour on the phone with the customer service office, trying several tasks, until I decided to leave him off until morning. After all, I still had to dry off, cook dinner, feed the dog,, and I forgot about my dirty clothes,
I have got to find a machine that washes, dries, and folds clothes.
Man,, research, research, research it never ends.
Anyway, you should try the washing detergents advertised on Television. Harry may be in the bathroom all night, but at least I will have clean dishes for dinner..

Tuesday's Question???

Hello, welcome to Tuesday's Question! This week's question is:

Have you ever helped someone in need, or shown compassion toward another, but, kept it to yourself? In other words, only you and the person or people you helped know what you did?

I was surprised and ashamed of myself because I had trouble answering this question. Although, I'm trying to ask questions that make us think.  So, I guess I did a good job on this one, it's weird, because all of my questions are original.

Although I'm sure it's been asked before, I do not look up "Tuesday's Question," But, lately, I've had trouble answering my question. Hmm.....

Okay, I'll answer first;

When my son was about nine years old, he brought a little boy who lived close to us home with him and asked me if he could stay for dinner,  Then, he told me that the child was locked out of his house until his mother came home from work.

It was about three in the afternoon and the Child's mother didn't get off of work until 9::00 O'clock at night.  So, of course, I let him stay and eat dinner, made him do his homework, etc...for a few weeks before I confronted his mother.

I don't know if this is an adequate answer to my question because I think anyone with an ounce of decency would have done the same thing.  You may wonder why I didn't confront his mother sooner, I would wonder, if I was reading this, but anyone who would lock their child out of the house for hours had to have some serious issues, so I was afraid the child would get the blowback if she knew he had been staying at my house.

It's a long story, but I never told anyone what I was doing. It's funny because I know I am kind, and I've always taken up for the underdog, but someone was always around, except giving money to people in need, I couldn't think of a time when I helped someone and kept it to myself.

I taught my son when he was small that an example of good character is when you show kindness to people without any witnesses but you and whoever you helped.

I thought of this question because a friend of mine called me out of the blue, and told me that my son sent her son 1,000 dollars t to"Go Fund Me," on Facebook.  Her son was born deaf, and with other difficulties communicating, and he had found love, but his love lived in another country, so he needed the money to bring her to the United States.

My son never told me or anyone what he did ...I told him that my friend called and told me, and he said,

"Mom, everyone needs love."

How do you beat that?

I couldn't believe that the words I told my son long ago stuck with him. I couldn't believe he did that and never told a soul. How do you beat that? Maybe, you can...

It's your turn:

Have you ever helped someone in need, or shown compassion toward another, and kept it to yourself? In other words, only you and the person or people you helped know what you did?

Thanks for visiting, A Nice Place In The Sun, and have a wonderful day!

When I was a child I used to sing myself to sleep at night. I love to sing.

I hate feeling misunderstood, although I knew I was trying to justify my behavior. I was eleven so I didn’t think I did anything wrong, but I was embarrassed. I did like the song, and I wanted to use the microphone.
My heart began to race when I saw my mother march into the auditorium. I knew I was going to be punished for the rest of my life.
The principal’s back was facing me as she spoke to my mother, so my mother would slowly tilt her head, and look at me over the principal’s shoulder like I’m going to kill you when we get home.
The principal reminded my mother about the time when I blew a whistle in class in the third grade. Then, she said that I was singing a Rock and Roll song for every student to hear.
“Ann will be punished for this incident, and I apoligize for her behavior. I will definitely speak to her about this incident, "
As she spoke to the Principal, I could feel her blue/green eyes piercing through me over the principal’s shoulder.
I thought, well, I know that look, there goes my Beatles album.

Tuesdays Question- 6/4/24

Welcome to Tuesday's Question. First, I would like to offer my sincerest apology for missing the last two Tuesday's posts. And thank a dear friend and loyal reader who has taken the time to comment on every question, whether I have visited her blog or not. I will write them just for my friend, but this person is smart, so I think they would like to read other people's views.

I know it's because I need to visit more blogs and establish new friendships. as well as rekindle old ones.

I will get there-

In any event, here's Tuesday's Question:

Do you believe in an afterlife?

I answer first,

When I was nine years old, I saw the Gulf of Mexico for the first time, and I felt like my soul left my body, and I grew as large as the water. I looked at my arm, and thought, this is my arm, my arm. It was the weirdest feeling. I questioned this feeling into adulthood and actually asked people if they had ever looked at their arm, and felt the same feeling, but they just looked at me with a confused expression, probably thinking I was on drugs.

Although, I asked a friend of mind's 85-year-old mother, and she had the same experience.

Anyway, I know it sounds weird, but I felt my spirit inside my body and the Gulf of Mexico. So, I think our spirits are larger than our bodies. But I'm not sure if we live forever or what I think about an afterlife. I do know that we are expected to love one another and ourselves.

And I believe in God, I'm writing a book at the moment, and I know that the words are coming through from a spiritual place. My son is a songwriter, and he feels the same way, almost all writers and artists do, and people who have a talent with people. All talents-

Okay, now it's your turn: Do You Believe in an Afterlife?
