Is It Still Christmas?

It's three days after Christmas, and the tingle of holiday fever is in the air!

This is my between the holidays update, or a folllow up to "Still Decorating My Empty Nest,"  the post I wrote before Christmas Day. The one about polishing every twig in my empty nest awaiting my son's arrival?

Well, I was dusting my last twig when he opened the door and said,

"Oh, come on Mom, it's just me."

We think we know our children, but they know us better, maybe better than we know ourselves. In any event, my empty nest, is empty once again, that is with the exception of Simon, my cat, who ate most of our Christmas Turkey.

Now, he looks like he's carrying a bowling ball in his stomach. It's ridiculous, when my son left the room he begged me for turkey and vice-versa, and now, Mr. "I haven't had any turkey" is paying the price.

Still Decorating An Empty Nest

Since, I haven't posted in about a week, I thought I should write a quick update. I'm still decorating my apartment in addition to what you might call triple tasking.

My son lives out of town and we talk on the phone often, but since he's coming home for Christmas I'm polishing every twig in my empty/full nest.

Why didn't anyone tell me that motherhood never ends? It's alright, I'm happy about that, in fact, I obviously suffer from empty nest syndrome. But, I didn't realize that once your children left the nest, they would return to peek in your refrigerator.

Welcome to Silly Sunday! Silly Sunday was created by Sandee of Comedy Plus, and it's one of my favorite meme's because all you have to do is tell a joke, link up, and the best part? Have fun!!!

I hope you enjoy my contribution.  Have a blast today!

There were five people aboard an airplane having engine trouble getting ready to crash, however, there were only four parachutes. Everyone wondered what should be done to determine who should get the parachutes. One person said that he was the smartest thing that hit the face of the Earth and that he was too smart to die. So, he took one of the parachutes and jumped out of the aircraft. The second person said that she was too important to die, she had children and a family to take care of, and they depended on her to care for them. So, she took one of the parachutes and jumped out of the aircraft.

Angels On Earth

Lost inside a state of mental and physical exhaustion, I prayed to meet an angel on earth, then, I felt the pillow of a horses mouth gently sweep grass from the palm of my hand. – Ann Clemmons

Words-

Words are the core of our souls, without written, vocal or lyrical expression we lose sight of one another or worse, ourselves. Words bring forth the essence of the human spirit; so express yourself without abandon.

Favorite Phrase

I remember I used to half believe and wholly play with fairies when I was a child. What heaven can be more real than to retain the spirit-world of childhood, tempered and balanced by knowledge and common-sense...

The Storyteller, by Dawn Drover

Alone in her world
of make believe
weaving her stories
of magic and light

She brings joy
to the eyes
of innocent minds
less jaded and free

For only they know
what's in her heart
holding the secrets
she guards so well

Life's hidden mysteries
belong to those
whose wisdom and truth
shine on in imagination
