The bloggers I nominate for the You Cheer Me Up Award I hold in the highest esteem- along with the likes of Charlotte from Charlotte's Web, a box of Peanut Butter Panic Ice Cream, and this image above of Lucy and Ethel. Often we lack the opportunity to show the people who make a difference in our lives how much we appreciate what they do, for example, cheering us up when we feel down, or just making us laugh- period. It's particularly hard to show gratitude to the people we aren't familiar with on a personal or daily basis- such as people in the public eye or other bloggers- who entertain, teach and cheer us up everyday.
I wish I was in the position to give an award to Lucy and Ethel for the whole idea of them on the job at the Candy Company - trying to eat candy as fast as the conveyor belt delivered it...but that dream is simply out of the question...
For that matter so is the opportunity to award E.B.White, the author of Charlotte's Web, the You Cheer Me Up Award, along with many other writers, directors, and artists... Although, I will not have that opportunity...
Although, I can give the bloggers who make me laugh until my face hurts this award... and I can give it to the bloggers whose writing voice comforts me when I'm feeling lost or inspires me when I'm feeling blue. Therefore, if your blog is awarded the You Cheer Me Up Award it's because it possesses one or all three of the qualities mentioned and I thank you for it.
I listed some examples of who I wish I could award with a You Cheer Me Up Award, although, you probably feel differently. Therefore, if you are a recipient and would like to pass some awards along yourself you can use some examples of what cheers you up, and pass the award to the bloggers you have an opportunity to thank for cheering you up. Here are the rules or instructions:)
If you are a recipient of the You Cheer Me Up Award, please find the blogs that cheer you up, copy the code to post on your sidebar and pass Ethel and Lucy across the blogosphere. You can use what cheers you up in your post, or copy this one, but please send your award recipients back to the original post on A Nice Place In The Sun to get a copy of the award code, post the image and read the instructions. And then I saw the Lucy & Ethel picture ... and I think you know that Lucy is my hero and I love her as much as you do. SO it got a little smile out of me. Oh my Ann i am so honored to have even received this award. But, for it to be your first and for me to be listed with these other incredible people ....well I am like Paula have tears of joy in my heart.
I am still trying to comprehend that you actually have me up there.
And, I absolutely love Lucy. I have a very,very good friend in the real world out here and everyone always called us Lucy and Ethyl...of course, I was always Lucy. And, my daughter will simply flip as she collects Lucy items.

Jackie, (I mean Lucy) I'm glad to find another Lucy fan, and I can't wait to see your post. It's great that your daughter collects Lucy items, she sounds great. And I bet you and "Ethel" are a blast to be around. To have acquired those nicknames you would have to be. This image is from a refrigerator magnet my son gave me years ago, that brought me through the day many times. You should get it, it should be easy to find. Plus, much of (sorry if you know this already) the Lucy and Desi stuff is public domain, so there are even more images now for us to enjoy. I knew she would cheer people up and I think she would want us to go about using her to cheer each other up, don't you? What a wonderful legacy, and I'm glad us bloggers can have a small part in it. Hello, Katzel, You did a fantastic job of passing along the You Cheer Me Up Award. You cheered me up, that's for sure. At first I was under the impression that I messed up the award code. (LOL) I'm not to technically savvy...
Anyway, you asked if there was anything you might have missed?
You did everything great, but I want to remind you to notify the blogs you nominated for an award to leave a comment on my post when they pick up the code for the image, that way I can add their blog to the award recipients blogroll.
When your recipients receive the award: they should click on your award and go to my post to get the code, and while they are there leave a comment so I can add them to the award list. That's what I meant by trying to keep a award recipient list going...
Although, I see you have the code listed too, which is fine, just let your recipients know to leave a comment on my blog to be added to the list. Thanks a million for helping spread the cheer. This picture is from a refrigerator magnet I've had on many of my refrigerator doors, and I don't know how I would have started some days without it- it just instantly puts you in that great giggly piece of mind~

Hello Kate, and congratulations on receiving the You Cheer Me Up Award.
You asked who Lucy and Ethel are just the right time. I posted a video of the two T.V. stars in action the other day. It's on the first page and titled, the You Cheer Me Up Award comes to life. Lucy and Ethel were two characters on the I Love Lucy show that ran thro' the 1950's and 6o's mainly in the United States, although I'm sure it made it's way to Australia at some point, but long ago. I'm not that old, but I watched it when I was a child, and in re-runs the rest of my life. You must try to catch it on cable, or see if they have any episodes on video- It is hilarious~

If you don't mind will you let your recipients know to use the code when posting the award in their sidebar? That way it's linked back to my post, and I can link back to them by adding them to my award recipients page. It's o.k. if they can't understand how to paste the code. In that case if they would just link back to this post I will know that way too.
But to copy and paste the code you copy the code in the little box under the award and paste it to your page.
I'm thinking of ideas for continuing the award around the blogosphere. Like with a You Cheer Me Up Blogroll, so I want to keep as close a track on who has received one as possible.
